Gratitude is the appreciation of what is valuable and meaningful to oneself. Experiencing gratitude, thankfulness, and appreciation tends to foster positive feelings, which in turn, contribute to one’s overall sense of well being.
Wellness is not just made up of your weight and image. Wellness comprises your mental health, physical, and spiritual health.
Wellness also includes how you feel about yourself. Are you practicing self-care or burning yourself out trying to be Superwoman 🦸🏽♀️ for everyone else?
It’s time to take the cape off for once and think about where you are in your wellness journey.

This has been a whirlwind of a year emotionally. I was listening to a podcast and the speaker referred to year 2020 as the “sacred pause”. Hmmmmmm, did you pause this year?
Covid brought the entire world to a halt. Businesses, schools, employment, social life immediately came to an end. We were forced to slow down, reflect and be intentional. There was time for relationships, time for communication, time for family, time to grow your business, time to workout, time to grow spiritually and more.
I believe everyone experienced some sort of a sacred pause (even if they didn’t want to) because these past months created a lot of time and opportunity for reflection and soul searching.
What changed for you as a result of the pause?
Now what’s next? How can we bounce back and still remain productive this year?
As we close out this quarter and begin to close out 2020 there are “2” very important things that you should focus on end the year strong:
Practice gratitude daily- think about how fast the world shut down in a blink of an eye. Think about where you are now and practice gratitude. In every obstacle or situation something always comes out of it. What is it for you? Be grateful! Speak it! Write it! Share it!
Stop 🛑 procrastinating! – we lost a legendary actor “T-Challa”, “ Black Panther” actor Chadwick Boseman amongst many others lives this year. Chadwick silently battled cancer for 4 years since the Black Panther movie and continued to make movies, appearances etc. What is holding you back? What would you do if you knew you only had the next 4 years to live. What would you fight to accomplish? What relationships would you mend? What would you launch?
Practicing gratitude and constantly staying in action will not only help you to focus on what matters but will ensure you stay productive and no longer just “busy”.

It certainly has been one heck of a year. We are currently in July with less than 6 months to go in 2020 and it has been quite eventful.
One thing I can say for sure is that the pandemic and the recent events with George Floyd and many others have really provided an opportunity for the world to be still and open our eyes to see what’s really going on around us.
The pandemic has certainly slowed me down and re-shifted my focus. It made me really think about the things that are truly important like prayer and time with family. As a front-line worker I surely had to pray for my safety and that of my family multiple times a day.
Although I was still busy with work, I actually spoke with more people over the phone, connected with folks more than ever, and had more family time. I mean the hustle and bustle stopped! 🛑
Vanity certainly went out the window for me along with many others with the closing of barbershops, beauty salons, nail salons, gyms etc. and my husband became a gourmet chef.
These enduring times really helped me to realize one thing and one thing for sure, there are a lot of things I can truly do without that I thought I needed and what I thought I didn’t need or didn’t have time for I truly did need.

Today is the day to celebrate all moms, god moms, aunties, grandmothers and those who love and take care of others as a mom. Doubts’ ultimate goal is to stop you in your tracks and prevent you from even getting started.
Doubt tricks you into making excuses and believing, you are not worthy, you’re not good enough, you don’t know enough , you don’t have enough, it’s too expensive etc. I certainly have experienced many of these feelings at various stages of my life especially as I embarked upon new challenges. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Ultimately, I found that there were 2 simple things that I had to do in order to overcome my limiting beliefs and self doubts and they were:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Reflect on all my past wins, what they were and how I overcame and succeeded in the past. This helped me to confirm that “ I Am More than Capable” and if I did it before I can certainly do it again. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Venture beyond my comfort zone to try new things and opportunities often. By taking action despite my fears and self doubts helped me to take the necessary steps to overcome and manifest my dreams and goals.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
These 2 simple steps was the ammunition I needed to push past the mess in my head and alter my belief system in order to accomplish my goals.

Prayer changes everything. Pray to eliminate your negative thoughts and distractions. Reach deep inside to access the power of praying in order to change your thoughts, and ultimately your life. Prayer is a two-way communication with your highest power (for me it’s GOD). When we tap into his resources by faith and pray, miracles happen.
When in doubt, pray!
When afraid, pray!
When worried, pray!
When in trouble, pray!

Celebrate every win that happens no matter how small and be extremely grateful for them.
When you stay grateful you are focusing on what is going right in your life and not whats going wrong. Shield yourself from the attack of the enemy by remaining in a grateful state.
There is much to be thankful for, and so many others that don’t get the same opportunities or simply don’t take advantage of them. The opportunities are there for everyone, but many don’t take them as they are afraid of doing that little bit extra and they don’t believe they deserve it.

If you are on the East Coast then you are definitely experiencing this 95+ degree heat.
Here are a few tips on how to make it through this heat wave
1. Avoid alcohol and sugary beverages! These extremely dehydrate the body
2. Eat fruits and veggies. They have natural water in them which can help to maintain hydration.
3. Stay indoors in a cool area as much as possible. Do most of your activity after sundown if possible.
4. TMI……… but monitor the color of your urine. The darker and more concentrate it is the more water you need to drink.
